Tradition and continuity at the Neculai Popa Museum in Târpești

The folk artist Neculai Popa managed throughout his life to pass on to us his love for the traditional values of our people's culture and spirituality. He was a consummate artist and a passionate collector of authentic folk art and folklore objects, which we can admire in the museum he set up in the 1970s at his home in Târpești. Here, Neculai Popa brings the Târpești of old back to life through the traditions surrounding spinning bees and working bees, balls and folk dances on ordinary days and holidays, the departure of recruits for the army, engagement, wedding or funeral.
